July 1, 2014 – Shooting

At approximately 11:55 p.m. on June 30, 2014, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department responded to a report of gunshots being fired in the vicinity of the parking lot for the VFW building located at 1 Violet Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

Responding officers located one male victim, age 20, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the torso.  He was transported to the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital by the Fairview Fire Department.  A preliminary report indicates that his injuries may not be life threatening.

Early information indicates that a private party was being held at the VFW.  Further details are the subject of the ongoing investigation.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department was assisted by the City of Poughkeepsie Police and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
